Citi Custom Cash Card Studio: AR Scavenger Hunt & Interactive Persona Quiz

The Task
Working with Citi, Soho Experiential, and artist David Huang, we launched this special 3 day interactive experience in TriBeCa, NYC. Guests were invited to discover card benefits with the digital “Discover You” interactive Persona Quiz and explore hidden AR secrets throughout the space using webAR. I managed the design, animation, and development of both technical installations. The interactive quiz should register users, present them with illustrated hotspots that each have an associated personality question, and present their “Custom Cash” persona result to them- educating them on how this card could work for them. The AR project had two modes for users to toggle between- they could reveal hidden animations on the designated “Persona” artwork or choose to enable a scavenger hunt mode that would augment the studio set around them with interactive animations.

The Challenge
We were on a pretty aggressive timeline for this project, and I had to manage stakeholders across 3-4 organizations to pull these technical projects off. I was able to utilize two development teams, a designer, and an animator/ modeler to execute across the three scopes of work. The project began with a lot of ambiguity and a lack of required assets from the client, but I was able to always highlight risk, escalate as needed, and move things along as much as possible to avoid true blocks. I also led QA for the technical installations alongside the fabrication setup in NYC and was able to identify and address some last minute curve balls resulting from last minute client change requests. This project put me in an educator role from beginning to end, helping multiple stakeholders enter the world of AR and emerging technology.

The Outcome
Both the interactive persona quiz and the two AR immersive experiences went off without a hitch! From the client, to the fabrication team, to the artist whose illustrations filled the walls, everyone was enthralled with the interactive digital components of the activation. Not only was the marketing activation a success for the end client, but the lasting effect of introducing augmented reality to multiple stakeholders was a true win as well. We executed on time, stayed in budget, and stayed agile until the end.
I even received a text from the client, “People love the AR! Thank you!!!”
